Become a Brother!

Interested in Rushing?

Epsilon Iota Chapter holds two Rush periods each year, one during fall or winter quarter, and one during spring quarter. The rush and initiation processes happen in five stages.

Requirements:

- Must be an Ohio University student

- At least one quarter at Ohio University

- Has achieved a 3.00 GPA or higher

- Has at least 4 remaining quarters at Ohio University

Stage One: Information Sessions

During winter and spring quarters, Phi Sigma Pi holds 3-4 information sessions each night the second or third week of the quarter for those interested in rushing. These info sessions generally include information about Phi Sigma Pi, our mission, and a question and answer session. These info sessions are great to find out more about Phi Sigma Pi and if it is the right fraternity for the student.

Stage Two: Rush

Rush week is one of the most fun weeks for rushees and brothers! Usually built around a theme, rush week enables the fraternity to meet the new prospective brothers. Rush generally is the week following the info sessions with lots of fun games. It is recommended to attend all the rush activities to higher the chances of receiving a bid. If the student is not able to attend, it is suggested to contact the rush adviser (listed at the bottom of the page).

Stage Three: Bid

Bidding takes place immediately after rush and the chapter votes on those who have rushed to become an initiate. During this time, attendance is taken into high consideration when voting, so be sure to attend all the activities!

Stage Four: Initiation

After receiving the bid, the initiate now has various tasks at hand. First, it is necessary to pay the fees to become a brother. Be sure to contact your initiate adviser as to the costs of becoming a brother. Also, it will be necessary for the initiate class to create 4 events all centered around the themes of fellowship, leadership, scholarship, and fundraising. In addition, the student will need to interview 40 brothers by the end of the quarter to become initiated. While it may seem daunting, this stage is the longest of the quarter and generally is 5-6 weeks long. At the end of the process includes a test of Phi Sigma Pi, its history, and the Greek alphabet.

Stage Five: Becoming a Brother

After paying dues, creating events, and completing interviews there is the final vote on whether the initiate should become a brother of Phi Sigma Pi. If so, the brother will be inducted the last week of the quarter, generally the tenth week. The following quarter the initiate will begin as a new brother and will partake of the necessary events to continue as a brother.
